DAVID L. ACORD

PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

David L. Acord is President/Chief Executive Officer of Goodwill Industries of Kanawha Valley, Inc.  David is a Certified Executive Officer who is responsible for service to people with disabilities, nine retail locations and Attended Donation Centers as well as more than 300 employees and clients.  David is responsible for overseeing more than 50 janitorial contracts for over 200 employees. 

David received his Bachelor of Science degree from Morris Harvey College (University of Charleston) in Charleston, W.Va.  He received his Master of Arts from West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.Va.  He completed post-graduate studies with Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va. and West Virginia College of Graduate Studies in Institute, W.Va.  He completed a Doctoral Fellowship with the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. 

Prior to coming on at Goodwill Industries of Kanawha Valley, Inc. David worked as:    

·         General Manager and Licensed Real Estate Agent for Coldwell Banker Taygold Associates, Inc.,

·         Division Director for Shawnee Hills Mental Health Retardation Center,

·         Assistant Manager for the Kanawha County School Employees Federal Credit Union,

·         Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer for Kanawha County Schools in Charleston, W.Va.,

·         Assistant Superintendent for Christina School District in Newark, Del.,

·         Deputy Superintendent for Kanawha County Schools,

·         Associate Superintendent for Business for Kanawha County Schools,

·         Assistant Superintendent for Career, Technical, Adult and Community and Education for Kanawha County Schools,

·         Director of Guidance, Counseling and Testing for Kanawha County Schools,

·         Coordinator of Guidance, Counseling and Testing for Kanawha County Schools,

·         Assistant and Associate Director for Job Corps Center for Women,

·         State Supervisor and Director, Guidance, Counseling and Testing for West Virginia Department of Education, and

·         Teacher, Counselor, School Administrator, Adult Education Supervisor and Instructor for Wyoming County Schools.
