LifeSkills Evaluation Program

The purpose of this program is to provide much needed information to incoming clients referred to GIKV. Often, the biggest obstacle in providing quality individualized services is getting a measure of each client’s individual strengths and deficits.

Information on a client’s current level of functioning by an objective measure is a valuable tool.  Basic skills training can then be provided to individuals to meet their needs in our community to become independent in living and work.

We currently face an obstacle in providing specialized training experiences to make the people we serve marketable to employers in competitive jobs in the community. LifeSkills Evaluations enable us to assess functioning and create an individualized program to instruct in areas of deficits and provide training in the needed skills to go to work. LifeSkills Evaluation allows GIKV to fulfill our mission by providing services that work with individuals so that they will be more successful in the workplace.

LifeSkills Evaluation also addresses the need for qualified employees. Often clients are initially not equipped with the job readiness skills or specialized training necessary for competitive jobs. GIKV realizes that providing education for each individual on how to become independent in their daily lives and offering the training for the skills needed to be successful at work is an opportunity to empower individuals and facilitate full integration into society. GIKV strives to accomplish this lofty goal --fulfilling our mission and providing support to the community employers that support our clients.
