Hospital Training Program

With the mission of Goodwill in mind, GIKV was pleased to be able continue to design and implement new and exciting training programs that lead individuals to employment and independence. The Hospital Training program with Thomas Memorial Hospital is one of the ways to accomplish our mission!

The Hospital Training opportunity is a four week training program with the focus of exposing the student to various departments and jobs within a hospital.  The training is a multi-level program designed to develop the basic skills necessary to succeed in job tasks within a hospital: laundry service, food service/dietary and supply delivery setting.  Upon completion of the training the student receives a certificate of completion and an opportunity to apply and interview for available jobs with Thomas Memorial Hospital.

This program meets the demands of two separate distinct needs in the community. The first, training and preparing individuals for employment in the growing healthcare industry. As well as, providing GIKV additional opportunities for training and work experience within existing training programs. 

The second, providing much needed job skills to potential employees in our community. Both service providers and employers have noted one of the biggest obstacle they face in today’s market is finding an employee who has the basic social and job readiness skills to be successful at work.
